Dark Valentine

Wahoo! Just received two Valentine's gifts from my wife.

First it was a single long-stemmed red rose.

And then, to go with the rose*, 2 copies of the new Stephen King Dark Tower comic from Marvel... a reading copy and a limited edition copy (to stay in its protective baggie).

I'm a happy camper :)

I haven't bought a comic in years, so I was very suprised at the current style of the artwork. It is all very dark. Not sure if I like it yet. There just seems to be too much black on a page. I can't understand why everything needs so much shadow, and why the shadows have to be so black!

Back in my day, comic artists used to have a thing called 'cross-hatching'. These young whippersnappers think it all has to be black, black, black!
