I think I'll just permanently set my 'mood' to Hot for the next couple of weeks. It's not too bad inside, I've had two air-conditioners pumping on full all day, but unfortunately I had to venture outside! Arrghh! Bright light, scorching rays! I'm melting!

But then I found out that ph8's car had broken down (overheated - and who could blame it!) on our way to the client meeting. I was already there by that stage, safe and cool in an air-conditioned office. Poor Fiona was stuck out there somewhere in the heat trying to flag down a taxi. She got to the meeting only fashionably late, which was fine because the client was late too, and everything went swimmingly.

Did some work this afternoon to get Trudi's blog up and running for her new site. Worked on some flow charts for another site, and now I'm about to cook dinner. Tonight;

  • Fettucini Carbonara with chicken and some really nice bacon I picked up.
  • A green salad picked fresh from the garden.
  • A bottle of ice-cold Asti.

No idea what I'm going to do with myself tonight.

25yrs ago John Lennon died. I was a 10yr old Beatles fanatic at the time (having inherited my mum and dad's 45 singles collection earlier that year) and remember it extremely well. My mum told me about the assasination when I got home from school and I remember that we cried together. He was an amazing artist.

On a happier note: 40yrs ago today the Beatles released their Rubber Soul album! Although their previous album (Beatles for Sale) had some slight divergences from the standard pop of I Wanna Hold Your Hand, and She Loves You, it wasn't until the release of Rubber Soul that the Beatles really showed what masterful song-writers and musicians they were. It was a real turning point from bubble-gum pop to writers of beautiful melodies and poignant lyrics - Norwegian Wood, Michelle, Girl... ahhh how sweet the sound.

If you've got a copy of Rubber Soul in your record/cd collection why don't you drag it out tonight and re-acquaint yourself? And, if you've got no idea what I'm talking about go and ask your mum and dad :)

Lastly, just took a quiz on what novel I should be writing (thanks nox_ulula for the pointer). Shoulda' guessed the result:

GenreGothics

GOTHICS! - Deep, dark, mysterious and melodramatic.
You are drawn to write tales of the shadows and
what might lurk there. Could it be Love? Or
Madness? Anne Rice and Brahm Stoker are your
guides.
