The good news? My "Stars of Speculative Fiction" interview with [livejournal.com profile] markdeniz has appeared over on his blog (http://markdeniz.blogspot.com/2008/05/stars-of-speculative-fiction-14-andrew.html). It was a lot of fun doing the interview with Mark. I hope you all enjoy it too.

The bad news? I heard about 2 hours ago that my last remaining grandmother had died. It wasn't unexpected, but still, it hits hard. I'll probably see if I can get out of working in the bookshop on the weekend and head up the coast to be with dad. After that, it will be on my way to Kempsey for the funeral, so I might be out of touch for a few days.

Sorry about your grandmother.

Mine died a few weeks ago. It's unusual for people our age to still have a grandmother, but that doesn't make the loss any easier.

Thanks for your thoughts. My kid's friends from school had to actually ask them 'what is a great-grandmother'?

Another sad thing: with so many people of our generation waiting almost impossibly long to have children, how many babies born today will know their great-grandparents? Or even their grandparents?

Thanks for thinking of me, ph8. It wasn't unexpected and she went making her own choices right up until the end. I'm glad she had the chance to make her own decisions and avoid the indignity of more hospitals and doctors. I was more worried for my Dad than anything else, but he seems to be coping quite well.
