Well, I'm off to the hospital now to see the oral surgeon and get these 4 wisdom teeth removed.

Not at all looking forward to it (full anaesthetic day surgery) and looking forward even less to 3 or 4 days of a swollen and sore mouth and jaw.

But, once it is done it will mean an end to the horrible pain I've had every few months.

See you all on the other side.

Thanks martianmooncrab! Not sure I'm going to be pureeing my dinners - just the thought turns me off a little. I do have lots of fresh fruit and yoghurt stocked up to make Smoothies with though :)

I saw my brother put homemade spagetti in the blender, he loved it so. You can also take a quick cruise down the babyfood aisle for some other food selections.

Thanks, ph8. Shakes and smoothies are all going down quite well. Probably end up quite a bit healthier by the time I can chew again with all this fruit and yoghurt that I'm devouring. Pureed apples and pears from the baby food aisle are great too :)

Good luck. I had all mine out years ago, and had no facial swelling at all. Not a skerrick. So maybe you'll get lucky too!

Thanks, Karen. I've got a bit of swelling on one side, but not as bad as I thought it would be. They took out all 4 wisdom teeth, plus three others scattered here and there that weren't faring too well. It is those other three that are the swollen ones, not the wisdom teeth surprisingly. It should go down in a day or two though and it isn't bothering me too much... the analgesics are making sure of that :)

Good luck!

I only had two, and had them removed just under a local. I was a pretty swollen, but pain killers, ice cream and jelly are your friends :)

Thanks for your thoughts, Amanda!
I'm not a big one for jelly, but the ice cream and painkillers are going down quite well :)

Oh jeepers, I had all four done at once, and the swelling! I had no neck, my chin was directly connected to my chest. I survived on cuppa soup until after about three days, I felt I could drive well enough to get me to a takeaway, and I got chips which I could push between my teeth and then crush against the roof of my mouth. Those chips still rate as one of the best meals I've ever had.

Hope that you have a better time of it, and there's someone there to look after you until you're better.

Thanks! I'm sorry your op didn't turn out too well. I'm very surprised at how well mine is. Minimal swelling and pain (although I'm sure the painkillers are helping a lot there) and it is a lot less than I expected to endure.

Chips! Now that sounds like a great idea. Something warm, and with some actually substance would be great. I love yoghurt and icecream and pureed fruit, but it just doesn't fill you up. No matter how much I have I still feel hungry. Some hot chips would be wonderful!

Old gummy here, back on the other side of wakefulness. Puffy faced and full of pureed fruit, but doing very well :)

Listening to 'The God Machine' almost continuously and enjoying it a lot :)
