Bored, bored, bored

Where is everyone today!? Is nobody interested in buying a book?

I've been sitting in this shop for 3 1/2 hours now and had a grand total of 4 customers! My first customer didn't even walk in the door until 10.30 am.

Are people finally feeling the interest rise pinch? Are credit card bills all due this week and there is no money for books? Or is the day outside just too nice that everyone is out enjoying themselves in the sun?

I'm not sure, but whatever the reason, it is damn boring sitting here twiddling my thumbs.

Oh, the only ones I have had are nutty!

A ten minute argument with one woman who wanted the book of 'The Golden Compass'... no, not 'Northern Lights', that's not it. It's called the Golden Compass. I saw the movie! No, I don't care if that is the book the movie is based off, I want the book based on the movie!! Arghhh!!

Another one, 'Excuse me, have you got a list of all Irish authors?'

'Huh? Sorry? A list of all Irish Authors?'

'Yep. I want a book by an Irish author but I can't remember her name and I don't know the book title. Surely you can just look up a list of Irish authors!'

Oh, boy! At least it keeps me laughing.

Oops, apparently the universe ignored my brackets. Sorry 'bout that! ;)

Meanwhile did you have a copy of the Scholastic edition of (regular print) The Northern Lights (little print) filmed as (big print) The Golden Compass?

Oh, I worked out who the Irish author she wanted was! She came back Sunday and said the author was Maude Benchley... which I automagically translated in my mind as Maeve Binchy! "Oh, yes, that's the one," she said. "I knew you'd know who I was talking about".
