What a nice spread [Tarot Meme]

Stolen from [profile] mallory_blog

I don't know anyone who knows me who would disagree with this assessment of my character:

You scored as XIII: Death. Death is probably the most well known Tarot card - and also the most misunderstood. Most Tarot novices would consider Death to be a bad card, especially given its connection with the number thirteen. In fact this card rarely indicates literal death.Without "death" there can be no change, only eventual stagnation. The "death" of the child allows for the "birth" of the adult. This change is not always easy. The appearance of Death in a Tarot reading can indicate pain and short term loss, however it also represents hope for a new future.

Which Major Arcana Tarot Card Are You?

The entire flow, from top to bottom, is really nice actually:

The Magician emerges from Death (normally through the Death of the old King or Emperor). He assumes the role of Emperor and conquers the Devil (his Inner Self, and sexual potency) with his Strength (might of Will, not Physical Strength, again also a symbol of Phallic potency). This allows him to claim the High Priestess for his own and take her for his Lover. Their union produces the Fool (the Babe in the Egg, the Innocent One) who is not accepted by the Emperor but left alone to survive in the woods..

The next part shows the journey of the Fool (grown up) as he leaves his home in an attempt to bring some form of Justice to the World (as in the Grail Quests). Under the protection of the Gods (Fortune) the Fool finally finds the Tower. This Tower (his goal) is also a symbol of his return to his place of birth, and the discovery of his true power as the Son/Sun of the Emperor Magician and the Empress, his mother, the High Priestess.

In true Oedipal form, the Fool conquers all (destroying the old Emperor and shedding his New Light upon the World) and takes the Empress for his wife. His mother - the Empress and High Priestess - initiates the Fool into the mysteries whereby he becomes the Magician, ready for the cycle to start all over again.

Really, this is just the normal cycle of all living things as the Ancients saw it and told it in their tales (Grail legends, the Golden Fleece, and thousands more). When you break down the processes, and look at them as stages of evolution and/or the life-cycles of various organisms, the Ancients weren't far wrong.

Hi AShR,

You have been far too quiet lately. To busy with NewCeres perhaps?

Anyway you have been tagged and I am looking forward to hearing your answers to this meme.

The Rules:
Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to write a journal entry for this meme with six random facts about yourself. Then pick six of your flist and tag them - no tag backs. These rules should be included in your entry.

Hi Phill,

Thanks for prodding me into action.

Definitely very busy lately, hence the absence from LJ and the PZ. I really can't take much credit for New Ceres though. I merely offered a little advice and minimal assistance when they got stuck. There were a lot more people than me involved in putting it together, and [livejournal.com profile] girliejones did the largest part of it herself! It is a great concept, and I'm really looking forward to subbing some stories and artwork of my own :)

Other than that, August -> December just seems to be the big time for Web Development. Lean times through the first half of the year, but once those tax cheques start coming in it looks like everyone wants a new website. I'm okay with that, I just have to learn to get all my sleeping done between January and July so that I can afford to miss out later ;)

Actually don't stress too much about the meme. What I actually would like you to stress about is the submission I just put up for Critmonsters.

Calling in a favour.

Phill.

P.S. Any comments would be welcome, no need for details.
